Blessed Forgetfulness

At last I feel old
As I've lost control
Of the tethered coil
That reigns in forgetfulness
No longer
Flirting with the end
Only mourning beginnings
So far away
Some forgotten morning
Lamented
Celebrated
Outdated
Cemented
With names and dates
Chiseled for the
Next generations
To learn and forget
In the span of
A moment
The moment in eternity
That was my life
These thoughts bring
No comfort
And so I bless forgetfulness
